These nails are put on the client by someone with a steady hand, as it can be a messy process. They typically last for about two weeks, when the client returns to the nail salon for a fill-in. Nail techs can work at salons and spas, as well as private nail salons. They are very popular in today's society. Women and some men enjoy getting away for a few hours to be pampered. Nail technicians can be trained in cosmetology school, and many of them are also hairdressers. Manicurists can make an average pay of $22,000 per year.

Make Up Artists and Skin Care Specialists

Make up artists apply make up to their clients for a variety of reasons. Some wealthy, privileged people have the luxury of a make up artist to make sure they look good at all times. These make up artists are privately employed or work at salons and large department stores. Other make up artists work in the theater, movie, and television business. Some make up artists can create drastic effects with makeup that make people look really old, or even dead. These people have a major part in horror films, and crime scene shows today because of all the graphics.

Skin care specialists work with people to keep their skin clear of blemishes and hydrated. They are not technically dermatologists, but can sometimes work with them. Skin care specialists may work at a spa or department store. At a spa, a specialist could perform facials and other skin care treatment to clients. Skin care specialists working at a department store's makeup counter could recommend a certain product for the client such as a makeup or moisturizer. Sometimes, these positions do not require training. However, skin care is a course in cosmetology school. Makeup artists and skin care specialists make an average pay competitive to other’s in the cosmetology industry.
