Legal System

A person working in the legal system can be a lawyer, attorney, paralegal, judge, district attorney, or legal assistant, to name a few. These people are qualified to hold these positions after attending law school, or a training program in the case of a paralegal or assistant. Lawyers and attorneys usually work out of private offices or part of a firm, and also out of a courthouse during trials. The higher positions of district attorney and judge are usually elected positions in the community or state. Paralegals and legal assistants work side by side with the lawyer to aid them in cases. Lawyers and attorneys handle lawsuits dealing with divorce, malpractice, injury and bankruptcy, to name a few. They work on the defense or prosecution side during a trial. The average pay of these individuals varies based on their certifications and experience, but is well above minimum wage.

The legal system employees many people in the United States. The lawyers are the most educated, and therefore they are paid the best. With more and more people in the world of business today, many attorneys are employed by businesses do deal with lawsuits, taxes, and other financial issues.

The main work setting of the legal system is the court house. This is where trials are conducted for everything from murder, to bankruptcy. Judges oversee a courtroom, where attorneys speak on behalf of their clients. There is sometimes a jury of twelve people that ultimately decide on the fate of the accused person. The courts are the highest level of the law.
